How Gradseer helps you get real stats on top university admission likelihood
Discover how Gradseer provides authentic statistics on your chances of admission to leading universities.
Having been a graduate student myself, I understand that researching the best international universities and ideal overseas courses is a tedious and exhausting journey. You might be uncertain about the exact GRE score required for your dream program, or struggle to find institutions offering your desired degree because the details are fragmented. To simplify this messy and complex procedure, some friends and I developed GradSeer, an application evaluation platform designed to help candidates figure out which graduate schools and programs suit them best.
Recognizing that official graduate admission statistics are not open to the public, we turned to Gradcafe, an open forum containing nearly 500k records of US graduate admission outcomes across nearly all fields except M.B.A. These entries are posted by applicants sharing their acceptances and rejections. Believing that this source accurately reflects the typical qualifications of accepted and rejected candidates, we used it as our primary reference.
To gather the necessary details, we developed a web scraper to extract records from Gradcafe, organized and refined the information, and created the visual data charts displayed on our landing page. Additionally, we designed a predictive tool utilizing three algorithms, namely Logistic Regression, Support Vectors Machine, and K-Nearest Neighbors, which estimates an applicant's admission probability based on their profile. Lastly, we hosted and managed the web platform using a Google Cloud virtual server.
Here’s how to use the predictive analytic tool
Follow these steps to utilize the prediction tool:
1. Navigate to the Predictive Analytics menu and select Predict my Fate.
2. Imagine you plan to apply to the Computer Science Graduate Program at Columbia University immediately following your bachelor's degree. You must complete the required inputs with your academic details, keeping in mind that GPA represents your undergraduate grade point average, while College and Major refer to your target graduate course. Every field must be completed.
3. After entering all your details, press Generate Prediction.
4. The output will display three distinct percentages derived from the three algorithms. For instance, the outcome below indicates a 63.08% probability of admission to the Computer Science program at Columbia University.
5. This is where the feature becomes particularly helpful. Further down the page, the system displays a roster of master's degree institutions where your probability of acceptance is strong.

6. Lastly, users interested in reviewing general data for specific schools or courses can navigate to the Admission Statistic menu and select General Admission Statistics.
It is our hope that this tool proves beneficial by offering valuable perspectives on pursuing an MS in the USA alongside relevant admission metrics. Best wishes with your submissions!
